As a prelude to this final project, please view Vision and Space, Site Generation Studies, Circulation by Subtraction, and Body Motion Studies, in order to completely understand each approach and aspect of this final presentation.
The Townhouse Project was an attempt to completely replace an existing structure on the Pratt Institute Campus with a new structure birthed from the hybridization of two systems, stressing the importance of coexistence, program, structure, and circulation.
Establishing a program was the first step, but was manipulated throughout the process in order to compensate for the other factors; structure and circulation.
Using the study of body motion, we understand the spacial qualities involved for certain action and reaction movements, justifying the placement of each body in the structure. These body studies can be found in the Body Motion Studies folder.
Approach One was the study of view cones that determined public space.
Using this method, I manifested that it be the oustanding force behind the creation of  the structure. The cones would dictate where the enclosing surfaces were, and  where they were located.

Below are study models attempting to hybridize the two approaches, using different contexts.
Once hybridized, basic drawing were composed in attempts to represent the final structure. The final model was given context and photographed.
Where I Went Wrong - The laziness of not doing studies after hybridization of circulation forced me to incorporate stairs and floors existing in the public space. In order to accommodate this blocking of vision and space, I made them glass. If I had studied further the necessary amount of circulating vertically, the  viewing of the public space, which was the thesis of this project, would not have been compromised.
This semester was cut short unfortunately, as we accumulated 8 snow days, ironically occurring on Design days, not allowing our work to receive as much feedback and improvements from professors. Somehow we made it through with solid studies and great final presentations, concluding my first year of Architecture and Pratt Institute, in Brooklyn, NY.
